Jimi's Story
In November 2022 Jimi diagnosed with AML Leukemia at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. He spent Thanksgiving and Christmas in a medically induced coma on a ventilator. When he awoke, Childlife Specialist, Victoria, was by his and his family's side in the pediatric intensive care unit to explain to the 10-year-old Village Elementary School student that he had cancer. Jimi fought fiercely the next several months enduring chemotherapy, and lengthy hospital stays. In July, Jimi had his stem cell transplant. His little brother, Wref, was his match and donated his cells for Jimi. This transplant was the best possible scenario for Jimi to reach remission and be cancer free... forever!
